After school children

Anaweza currently has 30 local children ages 6-18 involved in the after school program, which meets on the weekends and during holidays. These children live at home but gather together to learn skills, important cultural practices, have fun, and make friends!

Young Mother's

Anaweza currently serves around 10 young mothers in the surrounding village. The women are currently enjoying programs such as English lessons, netball, volleyball and health education. In the future, Anaweza hopes to provide a mother's support group as well as vocational skills such as catering, gardening and agriculture, and tailoring.

Boarding children

*This program is currently partially in effect, but will resume fully when the new location has been established*

PAST: Anaweza was home to 7 children who were previously living in unhealthy homes or who had been on the street and then found a safe and supportive home at Anaweza. The younger children attended school and the older children were all involved in vocational training of some sort. Anaweza took care of all school fees and vocational training fees for these children.

CURRENT: Anaweza currently supports 2 boys who attend public school and 3 teenagers who are learning vocational skills in saloon, agriculture and motorcycle mechanic. With the support of Anaweza, 1 teenager recently completed her secondary school and will soon be attending vocational training in IT.

Student Council

*This program is currently on hold, but will resume when the new location has been established*

A student council exists to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and the development of the children's leadership skills. There is one student sitting at the head of the five main department areas (Vocational, Recreational, Food Services, Agriculture, and Management) and they meet regularly to ensure that Anaweza's efforts are organized effectively and to keep the children themselves central to program development and implementation.
