Income Generating Activities (IGA)

The IGA Project was developed to provide families with the means to start up their own business. The Anaweza project requires that parents attend training sessions at the center as a condition to receiving their start-up fund. Training sessions have been developed on topics that will assist the family in running a successful business. These topics include book-keeping, how to choose the right business, and how to sustain and grow business. To date, 50 families have received 200,000 UGX from support from individuals in Australia. 20 of these members have gone on to establish their own fund which is used to give loans to members and they meet weekly to determine which projects they will be supporting.

FEATURED PROGRAM:

Traditional dancing and drumming

Each Sunday the children spend the day together practicing traditional Uganda dancing and drumming. Not only is this fun, but it also gives them an important connection to their culture and offers an opportunity for generating income as they can perform at community events in Masaka.
